Activities to practice the language are developed so they are age appropriate, success oriented, and motivational. Students play games, sing songs, and have fun in role play situations by creating Spanish dialogues.
Program Goals
• Provide students with a positive first exposure to language learning.
• Provide students with an opportunity to explore the sounds which are used to
produce the language.
• Provide students with an opportunity to learn diversity and gain an appreciation
and respect for other individuals and cultures.
• Provide students with an opportunity to make comparisons between their own
language and culture.
• Help students view language learning as an important life skill.
Program Outcomes
At the end of their Spanish experience at St. Katharine Drexel, students will be able to use the language at a novice to intermediate level range. The student's level will depend on the individual's commitment and dedication to working in the program.

Intermediate level: Students demonstrate more comfort and consistency with the language and begin speaking in more complex sentences. There is a complete understanding of the foundation of the language, sentence structure, verb conjugation, thematic vocabulary, and general grammar rules.
